Our School Programs

Student Leadership Club

The Student Leadership Club has an active role in the school and community and establishes rules for participation which are based upon academic performance (GPA), attendance, leadership, character, and citizenship. The Student Leadership Club's purpose is not to govern the students, but to provide students with leadership and community service opportunities, and serve as an extra-curricular club for students interested in developing leadership skills, participate in school and community events, and promotion of school spirit. As a member of the Student Leadership Club, students can assume as much of the responsibility of the organization of their activities as they are able to handle. We encourage students to join our Student Leadership Club.

Any student who meets the following criteria may become a member of the Student Leadership Club and attend meetings, activities of the club, and participate in Student Leadership events. Students who join and later fail to meet the criteria will be dismissed from the Student Leadership Club:

  • Students must have a 3.0 GPA and maintain the 3.0 GPA each nine weeks of the school year
  • Students may not have more than 5 absences of any type in any semester
  • Students may not maintain membership in the club following any out of school suspension at any time of the school year
  • Two, or more, in school suspensions will also cause the student to be dismissed from the club

Music Programs

Our school offers a variety of opportunities for students to explore and expand knowledge and interests in both vocal and instrumental music. All grade level students, 6-8, have the opportunity to participate by election in choral music. This class is a semester length course with scheduled performances during certain holiday programs and within the local community. Band is also open to students in grades 6-8, with 6th grade being an introductory year to learning to read music and play an instrument. Band is a full year course with concert performances, half-time shows, parades, and local concerts.

Knight Card Program

Andrew Jackson implements a Positive Behavior Intervention and Support program. It is a positive system approach to preventing and responding to classroom and school discipline problems. This process focuses on improving the positive behavior of all students. Emphasis is directed toward developing and maintaining safe learning environments where teachers can teach and students can learn. Students will be rewarded for positive behavior which we believe will enhance academic performance.

100% Club

Students obtaining a 100% grade on a test are recognized when they present the graded paper to the school's office. Students are recognized on the 100% Club Bulletin Board located in the Main Office and weekly drawings of names from the submissions are eligible for small prizes, gift cards, and school merchandise.

Attendance Incentive Program

An attendance incentive program is offered in order to encourage/reward students with excellent attendance. Students who meet the attendance incentive requirements are rewarded with weekly, nine-week, and semester rewards. Students who do not meet the established criteria for the incentive will not be considered for attendance rewards. The Attendance Incentive Program is explained to students at the start of each semester, posted on the school website for parents/students, outlined in LSIC meetings/Open House, and available in printed form in the school office upon request.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is a non-denominational Christian outreach program offered to all students at AJMS. The club meets on Fridays from 8:05 to 8:25 AM. Student led devotions are given weekly, with Pastors from area churches always welcome to come and visit. FCA is very active at AJMS especially when it comes to community service activities and helping students, or anyone else who may have a need. Everyone is invited and all are welcome. (No matter what time you get here, you are invited to attend.) You don't have to be an athlete to come!
